North Africa is a geographical region in the northernmost region of the African continent. The area includes the following nations or territories: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and Western Sahara (Moroccan occupied territory in dispute).
Two Spanish cities, Ceuta and Melilla, known as plazas de soberanía, are located in North Africa, near the Strait of Gibraltar, on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by Morocco on land.
